How I created these files

The music on my site has been composed using Computer programs that generate music using mathematical rules. This page has several pieces, composed either with FractMus 2.5, which is the program which sparked my interest in computer generated music, or my own program:  Spirotune iconSpirotune; which I started to write when I found FractMus could not do everything I wanted. I am not working on this program any more, but you can download a trial version by following the link.

Each piece is in a MIDI file - it's not an audio recording, more the high-tech equivalent of a piano-roll, which means it downloads very quickly. You can find out more about MIDI on my MIDI page.

Files Available

First are my "opus" 1 and 2, made with FractMus 2.5.

The major drawback with MIDI is that the sound quality is very dependent on the computer used to play the file. If the instruments in Harpo don't sound realistic then you might like to try the audio music page where you can hear recordings of Harpo made on my computer.
